Dave Carson, a contract software developer currently working at North Devon District Hospital, attended WebGate’s first ever one-day scrum master training course held in Plymouth on 1 Jun 2012.
The course, a mix of instruction, real-world q&a’s and practice assessments, is designed to teach Scrum basics and help students pass the Professional Scrum Master exam. The exam itself is conducted independently by Scrum.org, an organization headed by Ken Schwaber, one of the co-authors of the definitive Scrum Guide.
During the course, it was evident that Dave had a firm grasp of the subject. He aced his second practice assessment with a score of 100%. After the course, Dave followed the exam preparation advice given. He revised, read the Scrum Guide and worked through the free assessment multiple times.
Dave took the online exam on 10 Jun 2012 and passed first time with a score of 93%. Way to go, Dave! Welcome to the community of Professional Scrum Masters.

As a contractor I found the concept of the One Day Scrum training course very attractive. Although I had read the SCRUM guide numerous times I found the insight and guidance provided during the course was fundamental in my passing the assessment on my first attempt. Despite covering a lot of material in a short period of time it was by no means rushed. Many aspects were covered in depth and with the inclusion of real world examples to help understanding. I found Derek to be patient, extremely knowledgeable and an excellent trainer.
